Health Care Provider CPR with AED

This Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon course incorporates the new 2005 CPR guidelines and is targeted for Health Care Providers or candidates going into the following professions: Physician, nurses, EMR's, EMT's, Paramedics and Allied Health Care Providers - RT, OT's and PT's.

Approximate course length: 4-4.5hrs

The following items are covered in this Health Care Provider CPR with AED class:

• Adult/Child/Baby CPR - one person CPR
• Adult/Child/Baby choking
• Barrier device/pocket masks
• Automated External Defibrillator Certification
• Rescue Breathing is taught at this level
• Adult/Child/Baby – 2 rescuer CPR (30:2 ratio - Adult and 15:2 ratio - child and baby)
• Bag Valve Mask

Recertification - CPR Health Care Provider

This is a recertification course designed for candidates that have a current CPR-Health Care Provider certification from a first aid training agency.

The following items are covered in this Recertification - CPR Health Care Provider class:

• Adult/Child/Baby CPR - one person CPR
• Adult/Child/Baby choking
• Barrier device/pocket masks
• Automated External Defibrillator Certification
• Rescue Breathing is taught at this level
• Adult/Child/Baby – 2 rescuer CPR (30:2 ratio - Adult and 15:2 ratio - child and baby)
• Bag Valve Mask

CPR Level C with AED Certification

The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for adults, children and babies as well as other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification is included where legislation permits.

• Adult/Child/Baby CPR - one rescuer
• Adult/Child/Baby choking
• Barrier device/pocket masks
• Automated External Defibrillator
• Adult/Child – 2 rescuers taking turns doing CPR (30:2 ratio only)

Recertification - CPR Level C

This Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon CPR recertification course is for candidates that already have a current CPR level C Certification.

Content

The following items are covered in this Recertification - CPR Level C class:

• Each candidate will be required to perform all of the following skills:
• Adult/child/baby CPR - one rescuer
• Adult/child/baby choking
• Barrier devices/pocket masks
• AED
• Adult/child – rescuers switching between cycles during CPR (30:2 ratio only)

BLS for Healthcare Provider Student
The 2006 student workbook for the Heartsaver AED Course contains updated content and updated science from the 2005 Guidelines. The workbook includes sections on CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief choking. The student workbook contains a CD with supplemental information and video clips to refresh the student in CPR and AED skills.
